So tonight's venue for Network Dublin (Women in Business networking group) was the Herbert Park Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin, Ireland. I left late, got caught in traffic with the thousands of fans excited to see the national football team play Cyprus in the previously Gaelic only Stadium - Croke Park. Unfortunately for me, because of the location of my office and home in relation to central city venues for business meetings, my getting caught up in match traffic is not an uncommon, albeit unenjoyable event!
Eventually I arrived, completely missed the presentation got to chat to a few business ladies, and left to go home, dropping one lovely lady at the train station on my way.
Thankfully the match was still playing as I passed Croke Park heading north out of the city towards my home, so I was spared a double dose of traffic jam (I like jam on bread, but not on the roads please).
Another night networking, not an entirely fruitful one, however I find simply being visible and being part of the establishment beneficial, people will think of you when opportunities arise- it's all in my strategy of branding, my marketing budget doesn't permit me to bombard people through multiple media avenues throughout the day, but I'm determined to make as many personal appearances as humanly possible, they will not forget me! :-)
